Prologue-Sleep

The darkness swirled around me, the wind whipping my hair, the eyes glistening in the distance. I was in a field, and I never thought I would want to die like this, but I was actually making up my mind that I did… he took a step closer to me and I say his perfect features. I had never met him; he was only a figment in my dreams. But he seemed so real, and I could reach and touch his face, but only to wake up a few seconds later. But now, he was so near me, I could smell his sweet, lilac scent coming off of him.  I stared up at his pale face, his glistening blue eyes, the dark rings under them. His gorgeous black hair only blew lightly in the fierce wind, his light muscles hidden by his flannel white button up shirt. He put out a hand, his fingertips brushing my cheek. I shuddered.
“Anna…” his velvet voice floated from his mouth to my ear, his breath tickling my neck. I shuddered once more and a smile came across his face.
“Who are you?” I asked in a feeble whisper. He leaned down and his mouth came right to ear.
“I am what you find soon enough.” I blinked a few times at his words. I was becoming confused. He had never talked this much before in my dreams. His angelic face pulled away to look at me and his blue eyes were blank.
“What is your name?” I asked again, louder than before. His brow furrowed and he seemed to shudder as well. He just put a hand to my face and I the wind stopped, blackness enveloping me from all sides.

Junior Year

I woke up, groggy from my dream, my face pressed deep into my pillow. My head throbbed and I lifted myself up from my bed, looking over at the clock. 5:05 am. Fair enough. I didn’t plan on sleeping for another fifty-five minutes and dreaming of the mysterious, angelic boy. I tucked my legs out in front of my and swung them over. They landed on the creaky hard wood floor and the floor screeched for two seconds before it got used to my weight. I walked like a slug to my closet, obviously more tired than I thought I was. I opened up the sliding door and scanned over my clothes. The beginning of junior year was tomorrow, and all my clothes were the same. I really needed to go out and get some new ones. So, I just grabbed a pair of sweatpants, new underwear, a bra, and a black tank-top. I walked without a care if I woke up Nickolas or Grandma Ann. They were both heavy sleepers, so it didn’t matter. I was thankful that the water heater was working when I turned on the faucet in the tub to see if the plumber, or whatever the dude was who came to fix the water heater, had done his job correctly. And apparently he had.
After my shower, I hurried downstairs. I would have to make breakfast fast, Ann would be up soon. I let my eyes shift to the stove clock. 5:26. Ugh, time was taunting me! Ann was always up at 5:30. I rushed to get the scrambled eggs done and right when I set the bacon and the eggs into the fridge to cool down, Ann came downstairs.
“Morning, Grandma.” I said, smiling at her. Ann looked at me with a smile pulling at her thin lips. Ann was so young to be my grandma. She was only 53, but then again, my mom was only 15 when she had me. But mom got sick and died before I was two, so I vaguely remember her. Nickolas says it’s a good thing that I was only a year when mom died instead of being eight, like he was. It wasn’t as hard for me, but for Nickolas, yes. Even though Ann had adopted him, he had gotten real attached to mom.
“Good morning, Anna. Breakfast smells good. Scrambled eggs and bacon?” she asked with a smile. I nodded and the timer on the oven dinged, so I opened the fridge and pulled out the steamed off food, placing it on the already set table. Gran was so fast at setting the table without me noticing. She took a seat and smiled at me. “Go get your brother up.” She said, taking her share of the eggs and bacon. I nodded and bounded up the stairs towards Nickolas’s black door. I pounded on it hard.
“What…?” he moaned and I opened the door. His room was the tidiest ever, even though he should be a slob at the ripe age of 23. He was lying in his bed, face down, his blondish hair going in every which way.
“Breakfast.” I said and he shot up, suddenly interested. Food always got Nickolas up in the morning.
“What’d you make?” he asked me. I grinned, and his eyes sparkled.
“I made Bacon-“and that was all I had to say. He was already past me in his navy blue robe, rushing downstairs. I followed after him, laughing.
“Morning Gran.” He said cheerfully, plopping down in his usual seat by Ann at the head of the table. I took my bacon and eggs and Ann looked up at me, ignoring the growls and grunts that Nickolas was making as he scarfed down his food.
“I’m going to eat outside, if that’s alright.” I said quietly. Ann’s expression of suspicion softened and she nodded.
“Eat right, Nickolas Minx Rain.” Ann scolded him. He let the eggs drop from his bottom lip and straightened up.
“Sorry Gran.” I left before Ann could start to get sappy. I settled myself at the back of the yard, the plate propped up in my lap, the forest facing my backside. Birds chirped and the breeze blew lightly. I didn’t pay any attention to it though. I was only thinking of the dream. He had spoken so much to me in that dream. But why? Usually he just ran his fingers over my cheek and gazed at me. I shook my head. He was only a figment of my imagination, only a dream. I knew nobody could ever exist to look that perfect.
After I was done eating, I turned to face the leafy-green woods. I could hear the creek gushing water from the latest rain and smiled. I began to walk to inside, when I felt someone’s breath on my neck. I frowned, and turned to see who was behind me. But no one was there.
“Anna…..” the breeze whispered to me. But it was his voice. My eyes grew wide, and I bit my lower lip.
“Leave me alone. You’re only a figment of my mind.” I said to the air and turned around, quickly walking inside. Ann looked up from where she sat on the couch in the living room, and smiled at me.
“Brandy called. She says you two need to go shopping.” Ann told me. I smiled, rolling my eyes.
“Yeah, I do. Everything is probably too small or too yuck to wear now.” Ann laughed at what I said and smiled.
“Well, she told me to tell you to meet her at the mall in fifteen minutes. It opens early on Monday’s.” Ann said and even though I knew that, I nodded in thanks to Ann and ran upstairs. It was 7:00 am by the time I left.

Brandy waited for me at the front door and grinned.
“Hey!” she said and I laughed, hugging her. “How you been, Anna?” she asked me, her brown hair falling off her shoulders. I smiled and shrugged.
“Pretty good. I’ve just been having these weird dreams.” I said and Brandy looked at me, a weird look on her face.
“About what?!” she asked me, looking ahead of me, eyeing someone. I didn’t pay attention to her.
“Well, this guy, he just comes in my sleep and smiles at me, and he’s perfect. He’s got black hair, blue eyes, pale skin, just everyth-“Brandy stopped me, pointing to a tall, dark figure, standing with two others and talking under their breaths.
“Like that guy?” she asked. Right when she put down her finger, he turned to look at us. My eyes widened, and a look came to his face. My feet were frozen to the ground, I was frozen. It was him….
I'm making this story, and it is actually turning out quite good. I hope to get it published and maybe even if it becomes a big hit, a movie. Leave comments to tell me what you think of it
